How to compress a PDF to 50 KB
Choose your file, or drop it on the box above.
Leave the size at 50 KB, then select Compress PDF.
Download the file, then upload it to your form.
For forms that ask for 50 KB or less
Online application forms for government services, exams and jobs set a size limit for each document. When the form's upload box says a PDF must be 50 KB or less, a file this page makes to fit is at or under 50,000 bytes. That fits the limit whether the form counts 50 KB as 50,000 or 51,200 bytes.
Check the form's own instructions for its size limit and its file type before you upload.
If your file cannot reach 50 KB
To reach the size, photos and scans in the file are made lighter, a little at a time. Text, drawings and form fields are not changed, so a long document of text may not get down to 50 KB. The page then says so plainly and shows the smallest size it reached, which you can still download.
For a scanned document, scanning it again at a lower resolution, or in black and white, usually makes a much smaller file. If the form takes several files, Split PDF can make one file of each part.
Your file never leaves your device
Compression runs in your browser with qpdf, an open-source PDF library, and your browser's own image encoder. No file, page or file name is sent to us or to anyone else.
