Remove the password from a PDF
Choose a protected PDF and type its password. A copy without the password is saved on your device, and nothing is uploaded.
You need the file's password: the page asks for it once you start. This tool removes a password you know. It cannot find, guess or get around one.
Runs qpdf in your browser. Open-source licenses
How to remove a password from a PDF
Choose your file, or drop it on the box above, and select Unlock PDF.
Type the file's password when the page asks for it.
Save the new file. It opens without a password, and its pages are unchanged.
Only with your password
This tool removes a password you know. It cannot find, guess or get around a password, and it never tries: without the right one, the file stays locked.
If the file's creator also restricted printing, copying or changes, the page asks for its owner password, because removing the protection would remove those restrictions too.
Your file never leaves your device
The password is removed in your browser with qpdf, an open-source PDF library built to run on your device. No file, page, file name or password is sent to us or to anyone else. The tool itself loads only when you start, so the page stays fast.
A file without a password
If the file has no password at all, there is nothing to remove, and the page says so.
How large can the file be?
It depends on your device's memory. If the file is too large for your device, the tool says so before it starts, rather than letting the browser close the tab.
