Add a watermark to a PDF
Choose a PDF, type your watermark or pick an image, and place it on every page or only the pages you type. It is added on your device and saved as a new file, never uploaded.
Such as CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT.
Such as 1-3, 5, 8- (8 to the end), or all.
Runs pdf-lib in your browser, a 225.7 KB download the first time you add a watermark. Open-source licenses
How to add a watermark to a PDF
Choose your file, or drop it on the box above.
Type the watermark text, such as CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT, or choose Image and pick a JPG or PNG, such as your logo.
Pick where it goes, its angle, its size and how solid it is. Leave all to mark every page, or type the pages to mark. Then select Add watermark and save the new file.
How to type pages
Separate pages and ranges with commas: 1-3, 5, 8- means pages 1 to 3, page 5, and page 8 to the end. Type all for every page.
A watermark where you see it
The watermark is placed on each page as you see it, even on pages that are turned sideways or trimmed, and a 45° mark rises from the bottom left as it does on the page you read.
Text is drawn in a font saved inside the file, so it looks the same in every PDF reader. Letters, numbers and punctuation from English and other Western European languages can be used for now.
The page's own text stays as it was, under the watermark, so it can still be searched and copied.
Your file never leaves your device
The watermark is added in your browser with pdf-lib, a PDF library that runs on your device. No file, image, page or file name is sent to us or to anyone else. The tool itself loads only when you start, so the page stays fast.
How large can the file be?
It depends on your device's memory. If the file is too large for your device, the tool says so before it starts, rather than letting the browser close the tab.
A file protected with a password opens once you type its password on this page, and the new file keeps the same password and restrictions. We never get around a file's protection.
